Watch the Tour like never before

06 July 2009 | 14:17

In 2009, we're covering the Tour de France like never before, with the race streaming live and direct from SBS to your computer screens.

But we're not simply giving you the magnificent moving pictures that you get every year from the race. We decided it was time to make Le Tour a completely interactive experience online here at SBS.

With the help of Adobe, we've revolutionised the way you'll watch sport, not just online, but on TV, too. Our Tour Tracker brings you the vision from every stage of the great race nightly until the peloton hits Paris on July 26, integrating with SBS's on-air telecast presented by Mike Tomalaris and the team on the ground in France.

Of course you'll not only see everything live, but you'll hear it too, including the great commentary from the legendary Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin. The SBS Tour Tracker also allows you to enjoy text commentary from the race, and add your own comments whenever you feel the urge via a live chat window.

If that's not enough, you can also track every rider on our interactive stage maps, view profiles of each stage with the position of the peloton and other riders charted live, and even select which of those riders you'd like to watch from any team. So, if you want to keep a close eye on Cadel Evans as he strives to go one better than 2008 and 2007, drag him into your personalised rider list.

We're certainly going one better in 2009, and why wouldn't we? The Tour de France is not only the biggest cycling race in the world, it's the planet's biggest annual sporting event.

We're broadcasting SBS TWO simultaneously, so for the full telecast times, visit the TV guide page.

We hope you enjoy the coverage, and Vive Le Tour.
